At Such Is Life, we provide holistic, non-medical support for individuals and families as they navigate the dying process. A Death Doula—also known as an End-of-Life Doula or EOL Doula—is a trained companion who helps ensure that death is approached with dignity, compassion, and presence, offering comfort during one of life’s most profound transitions.

The Role of a Death Doula
A Death Doula serves as a compassionate guide through the emotional, spiritual, and practical aspects of dying. Unlike hospice or medical staff, our focus is on presence over procedure—offering a steady, empathetic presence, facilitating legacy projects, and helping loved ones prepare for and accept what’s to come.
Vigil Presence & EOL Rituals
In the final hours, a Death Doula can provide a calming, grounded presence, whether bedside or virtual. Doulas help create sacred space through music, lighting, readings, or personalized End-of-Life rituals to support a peaceful, intentional passing that honors the individual and their wishes.
Advance Care Planning
We help individuals clarify and document their end-of-life wishes, including (but not limited to) medical care preferences, living wills, and memorial desires. Through advance care planning, we advocate for your autonomy, ensuring your voice is heard when it matters most.
Grief Support
